Dr. Makenzie Fortney is a board-certified oral surgeon and a DFW native. She was born and raised in Irving, and she takes pride in caring for the community she grew up in. Patients know her for personalized care and a calm, reassuring chairside manner. She stays current with the latest advances in oral surgery.

Dr. Fortney earned her Biology degree from Hardin-Simmons University and a Master’s in Medical Science from UNT Health Science Center. She then did infectious disease research in Memphis before attending dental school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville. She completed a four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, a Level I trauma center, where she trained across the full scope of the specialty.

Her clinical interests include wisdom teeth removal, extractions, dental implants, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, TMJ management, and facial trauma.

Outside the office, she and her husband Taylor, her college sweetheart, are raising three young kids. The family is always looking for ways to stay active or catch a great movie.
